Room 7's TLC Experience on PhotoPeach
Last Thursday Room 7 had an exciting visit to the Tread Lightly Caravan. We participated in a variety of activities designed to help us appreciate how what we do everyday impacts on the Earth and what we can do to lessen that impact. The message was that if everyone just made one small change, the overall impact of these changes would be significant.
Our thanks to the TLC team and to Aiden's dad, Kevin, for the photos.

Room 7 has entered into the spirit of our 'Fighting Cancer' fundraising week in style. Check out our amazing hats and head wear! Our class raised $42 dollars today. Mrs Milne refused to judge which hat was the best as there were so many outstanding hats so everyone voted for their favourite 3 hats. Tosh and his Lego creation received the most votes :)

Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival
Today is the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival so Johnny brought in some moon cakes for Room 7. They call these cakes 'Moon Cakes' because they look like a full moon. The other name for these cakes is 'Family Cakes' because families get together at this time and celebrate together. On the traditional Chinese calendar every 15th of the month the moon is full.
Thanks Johnny for sharing this with us :)

Room 7 learn about the largest organ in our body... the liver.
Yesterday at the Life Education caravan, Corrinne shared lots of amazing facts about the liver. Here are a few of them:
1. The liver has over 500 jobs so it is an extremely busy organ.
2. If someone's liver gets sick, another person can donate half of their liver to be transplanted into the sick person. Both parts of the liver will grow back to their original size - wow!
3. The liver is approximately the same size as a small melon.
4. The liver doesn't complain about being overworked until it gets seriously sick which means that you won't be able to find out early that there is a problem with your liver to stop it getting worse.
5. One of jobs of the liver is to break down fats before they are stored in the body and to sort the vitamins and minerals that are in the blood. These come from the food we eat.
LOOK AFTER YOUR LIVER!
